Day 306/365: I've got it all sorted...

Dear Julia and Quentin,

Don't worry, while you're both overseas on important diplomatic matters, I'm here in Canberra taking *good* care of your 'house'!

In fact, the Live in Photographer and our friend James, recently found me this Ken Done jumper to remind me which country I'm in charge of while you're away for the weekend. James is also a human-rights lawyer, so he tells me this is all above board. I'm a pretty responsible person you know.

In the meantime, you both have some fun, and please give the new bride and groom a kiss from me.

Love Jackie

P.S. Thank you too for making Canberra so very close to Queanbeyan... truly a town that is an op shop haven!

P.P.S. I know you went and donated money to charity for Will and Kate's big day, but if you also wanted to give them just a little extra touch of true Australiana, feel free to check out the Ken Done *gold* on my eBay auctions ending soon... it all goes to charity as well! I know they'd be stoked too...

Day 305/365

Glasses from Japan, earrings from US, Uniqlo skivvy, Tatty Devine necklace, FAKE Ken Done necklace and brooch, vintage handmade dress, stockings from Japan, Fluevogs, Ken Done bag from Birdmonkey.

In my pre-WKBD days, I was happily collecting Ken Done, and one day stumbled across an eBay listing for six or so Ken Done animals, like the one I'm wearing today. It was so exciting, and although there was no Ken Done signature, I was pretty sure it was KD because I already owned the KD kookaburra brooch (first seen Day 19/365). Well, I'm sorry to say that since this time I've checked with The Ken Done Oracle - otherwise known as Cousin Christine - and it turns out none of it is Ken Done. All fakes! All Ken Done rip-offs!

Thank *goodness* then that I have Inspiration Fridays, and that I can still show these 'Inspired' Ken Done meets wonderful Keith Harring neon animals anyway.

And I feel a little like my clashing reds, purples and pinks plus my necklace speaks to all the judgements about the Royal Wedding today... love it, loathe it, tacky, stylish... it's your call to make!
Oh, I know this might be a little out of place, but I also just had to show that these Japanese stockings have toe dividers. Love it! Sorry to any people, like the LiP, who hate close-up shots of people's feet! But it's happy days I guess, to any foot-fetishists out there: you get an 'extra' Inspiration today! :-)

Day 304/365: Blanket fashion...

Ken Done glasses, puff-ball earrings from Japan, Table Eight dress from op shop, sarong donated by the Captain, Candy Butcher brooch, second sarong WKBD Collection (found in Penrith op shop), Fluevogs.

I don't think sarongs should only be worn as summer attire. I mean, why can't I wrap myself in rectangles of fabric whenever I choose? Well, as you can see today, I've taken just that approach with these two Ken Done sarongs. Or maybe they are tablecloths?!

A *special thanks* to The Captain in WA for the donation of my top sarong. She even agreed to pose for a handing-over photo (with full credits to the LiP). As for the bottom sarong, well, it's been worn once during WKBD in warmer times...
And just in case you think this passion with wrapping fabric needlessly around my person is new; check out this photo my Mum recently sent me, aged 4. I think I look quite regal! Imagine what my Mum must have thought!!

Day 303/365

Glasses from Japan, handmade heart earrings, Ken Done silk scarf (WKBD Collection), Saba top, Ralph Lauren shorts from op shop, Juicy Couture boots, Ken Done bag donated by Susan.

Ken Done artist silk scarf = love. Oh hold on, perhaps the equation is better stated as any Ken Done = love!

Pattern look familiar? See here and here...

And you too can join in the 1980s Ken Done *love* too... all items up on this charity eBay round now. Incidentally, some friends have told me they're coming to Sydney WKBD trivia wearing Ken Done... why not pick up some of your own too, and join us there for some *good* fun?! xo

Day 302/365: Ken Done meets the desert...

Vintage Sunski glasses, handmade necklace, Miss Shop skivvy from op shop, Ken Done shirt donated by Susan, vintage belt from op shop, Maggie Shepherd harem pants donated by Emily, Simon deWinter socks, Fluevog.

So when I think 'Harem Pants' I think three things. The first I think of is 1980s-style, the second thing that pops to mind is of course MC Hammer (help us all!), and the third thing is desert-fashion...

Now today I may well be hanging out in the Inner West of Sydney in these spectacular vintage 1980s Maggie Shepherd harem pants and Ken Done cotton shirt**, but check out where some of my Ken Done scarves have been on this What Ken Be Done year: to the Midras ruins in Israel!

*Lovely* Kirsten and her friend had a hoot hanging out at these tombs dating back from 300BC... And what did I think of when I saw these fantastic photos? Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, of course! Yep, it's a 1980s classic a-thon today!

** Special props to Emily and her Mum for donating in these vintage 1980s Australian designer Maggie Shepherd harem pants. And equal measure of *thanks* go to sister-in-law Susan for donating in the Ken Done shirt. This baby still had the tags on, people! xo

Day 301/365

Ken shows us again today, on ANZAC Day, that he really has created an outfit for every occasion. I've paired his kangaroo-cammo inspired t-shirt with this wonderful vintage scarf I found in an op-shop. So, a nod to the ANZACs and a nod to Two-Up. Come in spinner, indeed!

Day 300/365: Day Three Hundred!!

*Amazing*... Day 300!
Only 65 more days of What Ken Be Done to go...

And yet, we've still got heaps more to celebrate...
... like the soon-to-be-up next round of eBay charity auctions (they'll come online tonight)...
... like the fact that people are still donating Ken Done items (such as this rad Ken Done *fully* Easter-inspired scarf, from sister-in-law, Susan) and tax-deductible money which is supporting The Social Studio...
... and like other exciting things yet to be announced...

I'm loving that you are staying on the journey with me; so a Ken Done *Kiss* to you all! xo xo
Ken Done glasses, 1980s Fadz earrings, Ken Done scarf donated by Susan, Saba top, vintage handmade dress, Oroton leather belt from op shop, Jonathan Aston stockings, Fluevogs, bag from the LiP's folks... and FYI, these shots are taken under the Harbour Bridge, looking across at the Opera House. First picture is my hand on the Harbour Bridge pylon. Who doesn't *love* an alternative view?! :-)

Day 299/365

Ken Done glasses, Ken Done scarf donated by Alex and Deidre, Ken Done wool jumper - interestingly sans the usual Ken Done signature in the knit (WKBD Collection), Gitane pants from op shop, Camper boots.

All I can think about today is that in some alternative world - ruled by Ken Done - I look a lot like I'm about to go off horse riding... perhaps even to round up cattle that look like this. Eeek!

Day 298/365: Inspiring *Smallgoods*

I'm having a *Good* Relaxing Friday, being inspired by some special 'smallgoods'.

How fantastic is this photo of the LiP's niece, Meg, wearing her own Ken Done shirt? *Good* thing she has some company while she naps - including some bunnies!

As for me, the inspiration is being worn in these Easter-eggish 1980s mirror neon earrings, branded 'Fadz'. I found them in a Hurstville op shop, with original packaging. Ace!

And finally, even though the Live-in-Photographer has been away in Perth for the last few days, still somehow, the LiP knows how to deliver; check out the live-sighting of a dude in Fremantle, not only wearing Ken Done, but exactly the same pattern as Meg's shirt (and mine for that matter, first worn here). *Good* work!!
Ken Done scarf (WKBD Collection), Fadz 1980s earrings, strange childs-tutu-esque skirt worn as necklace, vintage necklace from Photios Brothers, vintage Dotti dress from op shop, Uniqlo leggings, Campers, Ken Done bag donated by Birdmonkey.

Thursday, April 21, 2011

Day 297/365

Ken Done glasses, Ben Sherman shirt, Ken Done singlet as vest (WKBD Collection), Saba skirt, Uniqlo leggings, Ecco boots, Ken Done bag donated by Susan.

I've lived in Sydney for about 10 years now. Funny how the time has gone so quickly, because often I still feel like I've just arrived. But one thing I know for sure: when I see the Sydney Harbour view - drawn in such a fun and life-enriching way by Ken Done - it proves this city really can be *neon beautiful*!

Day 296/365: It's all happening!

Ken Done glasses, handmade earrings, vintage necklace from Hawaii, vintage dress from op shop, vintage leather belt, Ken Done scarf, Fluevogs, Ken Done coin purse donated by Cousin Christine.

So many colours, so many patterns! Today, it's truly *all* happening, as me and *AMAZING* Dina showcase some Ken Done accessory gold!  I think you'll agree, Dina is seriously rockin' her look in her own Ken Done sunnies, including a case with a familiar KD pattern (see here). As for me, it's the little things that count: like a rainbow camouflage coin purse, donated by Cousin Christine. I'm riffing-off the design of my vintage handmade dress to say I've got my eyes all over the Ken Done *fun* today! Special thanks to Dina for supporting What Ken Be Done? xo

Day 295/365

Lafont glasses, Ken Done t-shirt (WKBD Collection), Ojay jacket, vintage Sportscraft velvet skirt from op shop, stockings from Japan, Fluevogs, Ken Done tote donated by Cousin Christine.

I love turning a Ken Done t-shirt into 'office wear'. And with this little ripper, I could easily go from my work desk straight to the tennis court!
